This magnificent prayer wheel is very old, handmade in Tibet. Extraordinarily detailed scrollwork and Sanskrit Om Mani Padme Hum decorate the wheel. The handle is of polished bone (often these are the bones of a Lama or Holy Person, symbolic in Tibet of the body becoming a worthless vessel after death). Whatever bone it is made of is large and carved. The original sutra is intact and resides inside the cavity of the wheel. It is delicate, and old and is more for collectors than practitioners, although it is very Holy. The size and the sutra indicates that this was almost certainly a Lama’s wheel, although it is not certain. Good condition.
